BORISLAVA TANEVA
Borislava Taneva was born in Sofia in a family of musicians. She finished the National High School of Music in Sofia magna cum laude and completed a Master’s degree in piano with Professors Julia and Konstantin Ganev’s and composition with Professor P. Hadjiev at the National Music Academy “Pancho Vladigerov” in Sofia.
Since her graduation in 1989 Borislava Taneva has been teaching piano and is currently an associate professor of piano and pedagogical practice at the National Music Academy in Sofia. In 2012 she acquired a PhD degree.
Borislava Taneva has been a national and international piano competitions laureate in Bulgaria, Italy, Japan, Greece. In 2010 she won the Grand Prix for composition in the International competition “Artists des Herbes” /Luxembourg/.
Borislava Taneva has performed multiple recitals in Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Lithuania, Israel, France, Macedonia, Spain, etc. in prestigious halls like Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, Auditorium National in Madrid, the Brandenburg Theatre , Megaro Musikis in Athens, Thessaloniki, etc.
She has been the soloist of all Bulgarian orchestras, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Thessaloniki and the “Orchestra ton chromatin” – Athens. She has also performed in various chamber formations. She has appeared in such prestigious festivals.
B. Taneva has served as a juror at national and international piano competitions. Many of her students have been awarded various prizes.
In 1999/2000 year she won a scholarship from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and specialised contemporary music with prof. Cherie Broome in Milano, where she also performed multiple concerts.
From 1990 to 1993 B.Taneva taught piano in the New Conservatory of Thessaloniki in Greece. From 2000 to 2004 she has been teaching Interpretation of Contemporary Music in Athens. She regularly gives master classes and delivers seminars on various topics at music colleges and academies in Geneva, Athens, Thessaloniki, Sassari /Italy/.
She gives a piano master class at the Dumbia music seminar in Greece, and the International summer piano academy – Poros /Greece/.
B. Taneva was the first Bulgarian pianist to give an integral performance of the piano sonatas of Joseph Haydn in 9 concerts.
B. Taneva has been composing chamber music, music for children, music for puppet theatres and for the cinema. She is the author of 2 opuses of piano pieces for piano beginners. She is a member of the Union of the Bulgarian Composers.
