HORS STRING QUARTET
String Quartet Hors was founded in 1991 by Anastasia Detistova-Abadjieva (violin), Mariana Vurbcheva (violin), Pepa Dzheneva (viola), and Palmyra Gribneva- Tomanova (cello).
The creative performances of the quartet on Bulgarian and international stage are many: annual concerts with classical, contemporary Bulgarian and foreign music in Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Austria, etc.; participation in the festivals “Sofia Summer”, “Musica Nova”, “New Bulgarian Music”, in the cycle “Mondays of the Union of Bulgarian Composers”, “Remuzika Festival” – Kosovo, “Unerhoerte – musik”- Berlin.
Priority in the interpretation of Hors is the performance of Bulgarian contemporary music. The ensemble has made integral recordings of the works for the string quartet by Pancho Vladigerov and Lyubomir Pipkov, recordings of the three string quartets by Vassil Kazandjiev and the four string quartets of Dimitar Nikolov, as well as the works of Ivelin Dimitrov, Ivan Yankov, Velislav Zaimov and Sabin Levy – in five CDs.
String quartet “HORS” is awarded the “Honorary Crystal Sign” of the Union of Bulgarian Composers and winner of the Golden Staff Award of the Union of Bulgarian Composers for ‘High artistic achievement and contribution to the distribution of Bulgarian music’.
