Piano duo Dora and Anastas Slavchevi

The piano duo Dora and Anastas Slavchevi began its concert activity in the year 1977. Both pianists have graduated with honors from the Music Academy in Sofia and then specialized in Moscow, Brno, and Weimar.
Having established themselves as a leading piano duo in Bulgaria, they have won international acclaim and recognition thanks to their successful concert tours in Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Cuba, Russia, the USA, Japan, etc. The duo has presented Bulgarian culture at significant events such as the Festival of Bulgarian Music – Tokyo, Music Days in Thuringia – Erfurt, International Slavic Music Festival – Moscow, the First Balkan Culture Festival – Ankara, etc. Their concert performances have filled with awe audiences at the international music festivals in Plovdiv, Varna, Sofia, Palma de Mallorca, Brno, Bologna, Saint Petersburg, etc.
The duo has made numerous recordings in the radio stations in Plovdiv, Sofia, Brno and Weimar, in Bulgarian and Russian national TV stations, as well as CDs for the labels Asia Record (Japan), Gega New and SMC (Bulgaria).
Dora and Anastas Slavchevi are favourite performers of many Bulgarian composers, and they participate annually in the festival New Bulgarian Music in Sofia. They have world premiered over 120 Bulgarian compositions, most of which have been dedicated to the duo.
As an acknowledgement for its outstanding achievements the duo has been awarded with a number of Bulgarian and international awards – Crystal Lyre by the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers, Crystal Award of the Union of Bulgarian Composers, Gold Quill of Classic FM, the Plovdiv Award, and others.
Prof. Dora Slavcheva and Prof. Anastas Slavchev teach at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv. They are members of the associations of piano duos in Japan and Russia. They have been members of the jury of national and international competitions.
Prof. Anastas Slavchev is a member of the Japan Piano Teachers Association, a member of the National Council of Music, longstanding rector of the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv, former principal of the Plovdiv Music School and artistic director of the International Chamber Music Festival in Plovdiv. He is an Honorary Citizen of Plovdiv and has been awarded the medal St. Cyril and Methodius, First Class.
